Night Visitor

Lying in bed I recognized his familiar profile as he walked in. Wearing a black suit, flowers in hand, he closed the door behind him. “Pete?” I gasped. “Is that you?”
     “Who else?”
“Thanks for coming. How long... But didn’t you die forever ago?”
     “Yeah. So what?”
     We laughed.
“I’ve been in and out of sleep so much, I’ll probably forget you were even here.”
“Well, you remember me now. And you’ll be seeing lots more of me.”
“You know, I don’t think I really liked you that much.”
     “I know I didn’t like you.”
     We laughed again.
